Call for leadership from science, business and government

“In essence we must forge a new industrial revolution - one based on clean, efficient, energy sources – in just four decades. That will require new forms of leadership from science, business and government. We cannot let the difficulty be an excuse for disengagement and inaction. Instead it must be the driver for even greater effort. With the focus now on the UN meeting in Copenhagen, over the coming two years, as members of the Copenhagen Climate Council we will do all in our power to build a global consensus on the treaty to be agreed in 2009. If the world is to maintain climate security into the future we believe there is no greater imperative.”

Tim Flannery, Professor, Earth & Life Sciences, Macquaire University and Chairman of the Copenhagen Climate Council
